Start with a conversation.
Earls Court Lodge is a men’s Craft lodge under the United Grand Lodge of England. The first step is a confidential enquiry — not a commitment.
Requirements
Who UGLE says may join.
These points are taken from the United Grand Lodge of England’s public pages on becoming a Freemason. Earls Court follows them.
A man aged 18 or over
UGLE membership is open to any man over the age of 18, irrespective of race or religion. Earls Court is a men’s Craft lodge under UGLE.
A belief in a Supreme Being
Candidates are expected to affirm a belief in a Supreme Being. UGLE phrases this so as to be inclusive: there is no requirement to practise any particular religion.
From any background
Membership is open to people from all walks of life. You do not need to know a mason already.
Integrity, friendship, respect, service
Those four values are how UGLE describes the path members try to keep. Nothing political is asked of you.
Women who are interested in Freemasonry can contact the Order of Women Freemasons or the Honourable Fraternity of Ancient Freemasons. See also the UGLE join page and FAQs.
How it works
Five steps, none of them rushed.
01
Join Today
Send the short form below. It goes to the lodge secretary. Nothing is expected of you yet.
02
A conversation
A lodge officer will reply, usually within a few days, and answer questions.
03
Visit if you wish
Some candidates dine with us first. Dress and timing are confirmed when you book in.
04
Application
Two members propose you. If you do not already know brethren, the lodge can help once we have met you.
05
Joining the lodge
If the lodge ballots in favour, you are initiated. Degrees follow at a pace that suits the lodge and you.
